COMPASS INN, BADMINTON
This painting is pastel over a pen and ink drawing of the Compass Inn and garden, in the summer.
Summer seems a long way off right now! I used my artistic licence to alter the buildings quite a bit, as in reality the cottage, which is also a hotel, is a much enlarged building.
It was the garden which inspired me to paint this small work, with the huge tree on which some pretty lanterns hang that I am led to believe were sometimes lit in the evenings.
