Calendar Class October 2015

Guess the title says it all!
Nearly done...or done...this painting is from Leslie Saeta's photo of a
natural marina located at Cape Cod, with moored boats
waiting for the next trip along the coast.

You can imagine it would be a great place people can relax on the
grassy incline in the back of the painting, maybe
 sun bathe before getting
back to their boats and heading home!

I have really enjoyed working on this collection of
paintings inspired by the calendar class -
and it is 'set fair'
to continue!

Last one! I did at least manage to complete 10!

This one is another in the calendar class  so I think I almost have

enough for the calendar of palette knife paintings!

DAY 29
Another in the Calendar series, this time
some lovely Hydrangeas and a
red apple! There should also be
some silver spoons in this painting but
I did not have time to add them now, so
will put them in at a later date maybe!

DAY 28
Almost at the end of this challenge now and I
have done quite a few paintings that I am
very happy with, and still two I want to do.
This one is  peaceful painting which was
another in the calendar group and
very enjoyable to paint.

I have not painted it quite as loosely as
I intended but still happy with the result.

Day 23

I have been working on this palette knife painting
from an online class with Leslie Saeta !
I am partiularly pleased with how well the
people sitting at the tables look!

This old shop front is from
the 1930's with its Art Deco sign.
Nowadays you can grab an ice cream and coffee
and sit outside in the sun!

Day 7

A palette knife painting, via Leslie's calendar class which I am still
doing, luckily Leslie keeps her recordings of classes online
so you can do them anytime.  I really enjoy these paintings and
this one has a great view.

September  30 in 30 Challenge

This is the updated painting of the Florian Teapot! When painting this my easel broke again and fell on the carpet - taking with it the painting and a pot of gold paint... ! One ruined carpet later and a broken easel, I have a still unfinished painting.... wow..I guess that's life!

DAYS 2 & 3
Due to this week being taken up by watching the tennis
in the US Open, :) -  this is the second day painting the teapot
and it is still not quite finished.
I have painted it in oils and blocked in the colours so that
it looks quite flat to highlight the art-deco style.

I am not sure how old this teapot is exactly but guessing
around 1930 - the colours are magnificent on the real thing,
with gold high-lights.
I will finish this soon and upload the final picture
hopefully in a day or so.

"September 30 in 30"

My first painting starts the theme of 'ordinary things' and today
as you see it shows an old watering can and
a flower pot!

.... renamed it

Now it is done!

JANUARY 2015 Challenge Square

30 in 30 Challenge
Jan 31
I challenged myself to paint more
in oils but this time with a palette knife -
which I am enjoying. Especially after finding Leslie
Saeta's online classes for palette knife painting, which I
thoroughly recommend.
At first the few results I had I was not confident I would
progress,  but now I like the change in my painting.

As a result,  I now have a few new
landscapes and seascapes of my own designs in progress.

In the meantime this is the square of
paintings for this Challenge .

1. New Year Toasted 2. La Tour Eiffel
( both painted from Leslie Saeta's Calendar course)

3. Purple Vase (my own composition)

4. Still Life with Pumpkins
(Painted from the Calendar class)

5. Christmas Revisited 6. The Supporter's New Hat
(both painted from my own photographs)

7. Sailing Home
(Now called "With Gulls Following!" and updated above this post)
(inspired by Ruth Archer's photograph on Paint My Photo)

30 Paintings in 30 Days
Day 18
This painting is a reworking of a damaged watercolour that was
painted in Stavanger, Norway. I wanted to keep it as it holds
some sentimental value also the light is quite
different there with less pollution to get in the way!
